What Is So Special About Valve Amplifiers In a nutshell - we think valves sound better than transistor amplifiers. Look at any technical review for a transistor amplifier and the manufacturer will claim that it sounds like a valve amp. The output is often described as a "sweet sound", like a valve amplifier. Valve amplifiers reduce the harsh sound of most hi-fi systems without any loss of top end or sound detail. Many transistor amplifiers will sound harsh and over emphasise the output from a CD player. Often the top notes sung by a female will distort when singing S's. Class A valve amplifiers do NOT have crossover distortion at low levels. Class A valve amplifiers allow you to hear the silence between notes. Class A valve amplifiers allow you to hear a note followed by another note, or the dying echo of the note in the concert hall. Class A amplifiers have an amazing silence between notes and instruments which creates a wonderful stereo image on good loudspeakers. If you adjust the volume control so that the vocals are as loud as the actual singer and close you eyes, your ears could be tricked into believing that the artiste is in the room. Come and hear for yourself. We are open Monday to Friday 9AM - 5PM and Saturday 9:30AM to 5PM. Site design and content ©2001 Matrix Hi-Fi |
